Individual Psychotherapy
Individuals often come to psychotherapy for various reasons. This can include depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship problems, negative thoughts, emotional disconnect, difficulty navigating life or any other issues. Psychotherapy can also be helpful for those who need help setting or achieving personal or professional goals. I utilize evidence-based practices to assist individuals in working through emotional blocks, resolving trauma, identifying old patterns/belief systems and replacing them with healthier tools. I help individuals hone into their own internal wisdom which already exists within each of us to move past the negative and limiting beliefs and create positive change.
Adolescent Psychotherapy
Transitioning to adolescence can be a notoriously challenging time for teens as they begin to experience many emotions and physical changes. In addition to these changes, they are learning to navigate many issues from peer pressure, social awkwardness, and self-esteem to friendships, dating, sex and drugs including the additional pressure of social media. Psychotherapy can help adolescents with identifying tools to effectively manage these challenges and regulate their emotional reactions. Although parental involvement and support are essential, it’s also crucial that adolescents have a safe and trusting relationship with the psychotherapist for services to be effective. To facilitate this, I respect the adolescents confidentiality and the parents need to be involved in the treatment planning and monitoring of the adolescent’s progress.
Mindfulness Meditation
Integrating psychotherapy and mindfulness promotes a deeper connection with the self at the emotional, physical, and spiritual levels, leading one to faster recovery and healing. Instead of going through the motions, mindfulness helps you tune into your senses, notice your thoughts and emotions, and relate to them without being judgmental or reactive. I teach and incorporate mindfulness exercises, breathwork, and a lot of self-compassion to help minimize negative emotional states and cultivate positive and neutral emotional states. All new science and research suggest that we can rewire the brain through mindfulness and meditation, which can help create positive change and replace beliefs, habits, and impulses.
